JEWELRY CARE GUIDE

At MSBLUE, we work with enduring materials, from precious metals to premium Moissanite and colored gemstones. With our in-house jewelry workshop and stone factory, we bring you beautiful, high-quality jewelry under strict quality control. Our pieces are designed for everyday wear, to be cherished and loved forever.

Keep your jewelry looking its best with these tips and tricks:

MOISSANITE CARE

Moissanite is resilient and easy to care for. Clean your Moissanite just as you would a diamond or any other fine gemstone. An ultrasonic cleaner is safe for use with most fine jewelry items. However, always handle your treasured pieces with care. Alternatively, you can clean your Moissanite jewelry using a non-acidic commercial jewelry cleaner or mild soap and water with a soft toothbrush.

GENERAL GEMSTONE CARE

Keeping your gemstones sparkling is simple! Most gemstones can be cleaned with warm, soapy water and a soft-bristled brush. Avoid harsh chemicals that can be found in everyday products such as lotion, perfume, and hairspray, as well as household cleaners like bleach. Store your jewelry in a safe, dry place when not being worn to protect it.

925 STERLING SILVER

Composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, 925 sterling silver is a popular choice for jewelry due to its durability. Unlike pure silver, which is too soft for intricate designs, sterling silver is harder, making it perfect for more complex jewelry.

Care Tips:To maintain the brilliant shine of your sterling silver jewelry, avoid contact with water. Although pure water does not damage 925 sterling silver, most water is not purified. To preserve the shine, store your silver in an airtight bag with an anti-tarnish strip. While silver is durable, it can be scratched if not handled with care. Use a special jewelry or microfiber cloth to polish it without scratching.

GOLD VERMEIL

Gold Vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is a special style of gold plating, also known as silver gilt. It features a gold coating over a sterling silver base, offering the luxurious look of yellow or rose gold jewelry at an exceptional value. Vermeil is known for its long-lasting color and shine.

Care Tips:To keep your gold vermeil jewelry looking beautiful, avoid contact with chlorine, bleach, and sweat. Clean it gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners, as they can strip the jewelry of its gold finish.

RHODIUM PLATED

Rhodium plating is used to maintain the brilliant white in silver and white gold. Rhodium, a member of the platinum family of metals, is applied over sterling silver or alloyed gold, making the jewelry more resistant to corrosion and tarnish while providing long-lasting color and shine.

Care Tips:Wash your rhodium-plated jewelry in a solution of warm soapy water using a soft-bristled brush. Rinse off any soapy residue and dry with a soft microfiber cloth.

GENERAL JEWELRY CARE TIPS

Take It Off.

Occasionally, caring for your jewelry means taking it off, especially during these activities:

  • Sports: Holding a tennis racket or lifting weights can put stress on your rings, particularly those with stones all the way around. Avoid wearing rings during such activities.
  • Gardening: Heavy yard work can chip stones or loosen their settings, so it's best to remove your jewelry beforehand.
  • Cleaning: Harsh chemicals in soaps or cleansers can damage your jewelry. Take off your rings before doing dishes or cleaning the house.

Safekeeping.

If you need to remove your jewelry, make sure to place it in a safe and memorable location.

Avoid Lotions, Sunscreen, and Perfume.

These products can build up on your jewelry, diminishing its shine. Take off your jewelry before applying any of these products.

Be Careful in the Kitchen.

When mixing dough or handling food with your hands, residue can leave a film on your jewelry, affecting its luster. Remove your jewelry to keep it clean.

Avoid Chlorinated Water.

Chlorine in pools and spas can react with metals in your jewelry, causing color changes and structural damage. Remove your jewelry before entering chlorinated water.

Remove Jewelry Before Bathing.

Soap can leave a film on your jewelry, making it look dull and dingy. Take off all jewelry before showering or bathing to prevent this.

Don’t Swim in the Ocean While Wearing Jewelry.

Cold water can cause your fingers to shrink, potentially loosening your ring and leading to its loss in the ocean.

By following these care tips, you can keep your MSBLUE jewelry looking as beautiful as the day you received it, ensuring it remains a cherished part of your collection for years to come.
